CPS2 and MVS don't need -5V. Not sure if there is a list of PCBs that need -5v around, but in my experience there are more PCBs that don't require -5v than do.

Yeah I guess I'll go with the Mean Well since they are more common around here, but I need to figure out what the CPS2 and MVS boards actually need on the 5V rails.

I always used to use Wei-Ya ones for superguns and they were perfectly fine. I've never tried the Heima and Min-Dong ones before but they're probably pretty similar. I do reckon that all of those would be better than using an ATX PSU with an unadjustable +5v though.

Be sure to hook it up with an adequate gauge, length and quantity of wire too.

My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.

Just check their site or a European electronics distributor like Farnell or Mouser for a model that offer +5 and +12, i've checked before and i think nowadays you won't find one with -5 +5 and +12...

Mean Well RT-125A

Output 1: 5V DC, 12A
Output 2: 12V DC, 5.5A
Output 3: -5V DC, 1A

Looks pretty good to me.

Damn how could I miss that PSU ? :wtf:
Is there ANY board out there that needs those crazy 15/16A on the 5V rail that other PSUs provide?

I'm sure there's something, but 12 amps is enough for 99.9% of boards.

That RT-125A looks very decent and the price isn't that bad. I might buy one for me in the future.

If you buy, please let us know your experience.

It was unfortunately too late for me as well, at the time I saw his post I already bought he one from eBay.
But knowing Min Dong it might explode soon, so I will buy the Mean Well :D

I've ordered it through the company where i work at. As i said before, we buy a lot of similar power supplies but with different specs. I've called our supplier and asked for the RT-125A model, low and behold, they had them in stock 8-)

I will let you guys know the final price (should be around 30€-35€) and my thoughts on the unit.

Just came back from lunch and found this baby on my desk:

Final cost (with taxes included) - 33€

First impressions:
Small size compared to standard Arcade PSU's and the usual built quality from Mean Well.

Will let you guys know some details after the weekend.

199x98x38 (LxWxH)
A bit slimmer and longer than usual.

PS- Box and item with matching serial, looks like an MVS kit

I forgot to update this subject so here goes:

Let me start by saying that the power supply works great. But it has a "strange" feature that caused me some trouble.

The first time i turned it on, i did it without any game in order to adjust the +5V. The power supply simply kept blinking and giving the power in an intermittent way. I thought that it was damaged and sent it back, didn't even dared to try a PCB because i was afraid that behaviour could damage one of my beloved PCB :D

Turns out that this is normal for this models becuse it has an internal system that requires a constant load to work, it need 2A on the +5V and 0.5A on the 12V.

I've had a lot of different power supplies in the past from different brands, even have a lot (different models) from this brand at my work place and never seen anything like this.

Bottom line, it works great :awe:
