Supergun Options (LCD) & DC Stick

Post by ShadowDancer »

As title really.

TV is a 32" LCD and I have a lovely modded DC Stick..

What kind of options do I have for using both the TV and Stick...

A cheap option would be nice also.

Vogateks are the cheapest you can go, really. They're not terrible but I'd advise you to use a real arcade PSU and not an ATX PSU like Vogatek's website says.

Thank You Kor...

So..if I bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vogatek-arcad ... 2318218d51"

Do I buy the PSU you mentioned and a double ended Scart (I'm useless I know)

And will my DC arcade stick fit?

Thank You again.

Well you haven't told us enough about your modded stick. Modded how? It needs to be compatible with the Neo-Geo DB-15 layout otherwise it won't work.
If you plan to use SCART, then I'd imagine that any old SCART cable will do. I live in the US where we don't have SCART so I'm not familiar with all the different SCART connectors and whatnot.
As far as the PSU goes, you will need to take a dead computer PSU and cut off the main connector (the one that connects to the motherboard) and then wire it appropriately to your arcade PSU.

MK1 is the Mega Drive model, which is not gonna work with your DC stick unless you are gonna padhack an MD pad into it

You will need to think about kick harness options if you plan on using more than 3 or 4 buttons

If your DC stick still works with the DC then the Vogatek is no good.
Truthfully, if you can do it then build it yourself. It doesn't need to be pretty (mine is an arcade PSU and RBG to NTSC converter bolted to a block of wood and a stick wired directly to a JAMMA harness), it just needs to work.

The only way you are ever gonna get a DC stick working with a vogatek (or any other superguun) is gutting it and rewiring it.

Not strictly true as you can use a microcontroller to interface and read the data from the DC (and simiar examples exist for the Playstation 1/2 joysticks) controller. Although this is probably beyond the scope of anyone who is asking about a supergun.

If I were able to do that, would it incur lag? I would like a raijin, but finances won't allow, unfortunately.

My second reply implied that it is probably beyond scope. Apologies if that was unclear.

Depends on the microcontroller, really. I've heard decent to good things about the Playstation 1/2 ones but I don't know if there exists any DC adapters on the market.

I guess it is beyond scope. I-ll save for a raijin. Cheers.

I'm up and running now. :)

In the space of 6 weeks, I've sacrificed a 50" Plasma to a 32" LCD and today (from yesterday) I'm with a 14" CRT!!

That's being upgraded to a 20-24" CRT when one becomes available!!

All fun and games eh :)

I bought the MK4 in the end (Vogatek off Idchappy, props to him, great seller and helpful) went for the MK4 So I could use a neo stick.
