Vogatek - different versions?
Yeah, thinking about testing one of these out. Tuck one in a stick and wire it up. Anybody know the (main) differences ? MK2, 3, 4, 5 and so on? Or point me to a thread.
Cheers.

Re: Vogatek - different versions?
Different models have either SCART or composite output, and terminal blocks or DB-15 for controllers.
The MKV has a sync width modifier.

Mk1 - 3 Button Only, Supports Megadrive Joysticks, RGB SCART with speaker output
Mk2 - 4 Button Neo Geo support, Screw terminal joystick input, Neo Geo Stereo support, Test and Select button screw terminals,S-Video and Composite output with sync and RGB adjustments and sync correction with speaker output
Mk3 - 4 Button Neo Geo support, Screw terminal joystick input, Neo Geo Stereo support, Test and Select button screw terminals, RGB SCART with speaker output
Mk4 - 4 Button Neo Geo support, Supports Neo Geo joysticks, Neo Geo Stereo support, test button support, RGB SCART with speaker output
Mk5 - 4 Button Neo Geo support, Supports Neo Geo joysticks, Neo Geo Stereo support, test button support, S-Video and Composite output with sync and RGB adjustments and sync correction with speaker output
All have an ATX conector for a PC powersupply and all have a 1 player coin button switch.
Or use this handy table.
1 = Select button on Neo Geo Joystick
2 = By soldering a piece of wire fromt the speaker output to the audio input pins of SCART you can Audio from your TV, although this is at your own risk.
3 = Vast majority of JAMMA games that use 4 buttons have the 4th button on the JAMMA connector.

Re: Vogatek - different versions?
Hi Guys...I just got the final bits including willow gameboard for my vogatek..
I've set it all up...
Unfortunately, I only have a 32" LCD To play on (and also test)
I have a problem, if i put the scart to scart lead in the scart socket on TV - I get sound, no picture.
If I put the scart to scart in the RGB socket on TV..I get sound, but the picture is unstable.
I'm guessing some kind of RGB will Sort that? (I've read the MK4 which I have supports RGB)
Is there such a thing as an RGB to RGB? Is that what I'm looking for?
Help appreciated.
Many Many Thanks.

Re: Vogatek - different versions?
All is good, should of been a no-brainer, but...
I've just borrowed a CRT of my bro (and carried it home) I'm dying, but happy, because..
It works fine...yay!
Gonna sacrafice my LCD and buy a CRT. I only retro game anyway...i watch sky on my lappy.
I think that is the best decision

Re: Vogatek - different versions?
I believe sir, the dips on the Willow board are on easiest setting.
You sold it me - and therefor you are being named and shamed!!!
Hehe...I'm in bloody element right now.
(Thank You Cools!)

Re: Vogatek - different versions?
You don't have to sell the LCD. The issue you have is the monitor not supporting arcade resolution. To solve this you can use a CGA to VGA upscaler. It won't look super pretty like a CRT and might struggle with boards that run at odd frequencies (SPI motherboard for example) but it will work.

Re: Vogatek - different versions?
I've decided to buy my own CRT...
I don't have one current gen console set up...
By the time the next gen is out, I'll probably have my own place (again) fingers crossed.
I can then have a LCD and a CRT. I've put the LCD in my parents room for now so I can play with the CRT my brother gave me...
I've had a massive Willow session today....No Continues! and no...I haven't completed it...and if i go by the last time I had a supergun..it was taking 1-3 months to 1CC games - I like it like that..
Thank you for the advice Dave.
(*I'm currently in a box room, thats all I have, and with my not playing anything current gen - the CRT option would be best*)
Glorious glorious natural scanlines *Giddy*
