Supergun + Type X (probably the dumbest question ever)
As the Type X has its own power supply, would the supergun still need one to power the I/O board?
I guess so, I just want to know it exactly.

Re: Supergun + Type X (probably the dumbest question ever)
Possibly,
I have to have the Panatwin powered up to run my Naomi i/o even though the Naomi m/b & GD-rom are powered from a seperate PSU. The same for System 246/256.
You probably need to ask the Type-X owners to confirm this

Thanks, I thought so. I guess it doesn´t matter if it is a Naomi or Type X or whatever.

You will need one to power the supergun i/o to run your type x ....
I can go into it with more detail if you want ....

Thanks for confirming!
You don´t need to go further into details because I´m quite familiar with the Type X, but I don´t own a supergun for years, I just wondered if the I/Os need power. Actually, I don´t even plan to get a supergun, it was just a question that crossed my mind every now and then.

i've powered a sega Naomi NON JAMMA I/O from the TX2 internal PSU (tapped 5v and 12v) and used a Sega CP connected to the I/O board
works fine

Re: Supergun + Type X (probably the dumbest question ever)
My Type-X setup involves a hand-soldered molex wire onto my JAMMA loom, which plugs into my JVS-to-JAMMA board. I hook up the molex on the loom to the Type-X power supply via a molex extension cord i've carefully lead out of the Type-X casing, and everything works perfectly. Ideally, I should probably put the I/O board in an enclosure and only expose the wires I need, but bah, humbug.
Here's a shot of the aforementioned molex wiring setup:

pretty much the same as my setup, except your I/O is JAMMA and mines not, and your controls have casing
