Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration
Nice and tidy cools, good work!!
The only thing I'd like to do at some point now is setup a win 7 version with an i5 or i7 but tbh for the amount of time I get these days to play it I'm fine with my Xp64 setup for the mo!

Cools, what is that tiny little switch you had installed in a screw hole on the underside of your Pony's CP? I've been looking in the Pony Mk III thread but can't find it.

Just a little panel mount momentary switch. On the Pony that thomj now has it was wired as a credit button, but on mine I wired it for the JAMMA switcher.
I did have to make the hole a bit larger than it was though.

Not so sure about this. Need a manual to check the jumpers. The Toshiba PF protects itself from out-of-range frequencies, and the passthrough VGA connection on the JVS/AMP board happily passes through anything.cools wrote:appears to have a frequency protection on both jamma and VGA outputs selectable for 15/31k

It's better. The behaviour is still weird if you change rotation once it's running but that's understandable due to how the layouts work. A rotated layout no longer has wonky text though.

Protip: set DIP 1 in Solar Assault to ON, then reverse P1 left and right controls in MAME. It then plays as a digitally controlled game correctly.

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration
Had a quick look last night, screensaver is much improved. Screen always defaults to hori on boot unless i have to enable "auto rotate" on options?cools wrote:It's better. Flyers unfortunately still look stretched in vert, shame there's no way of having 2 separate screen profiles built into attractmame so when you switch to vert or hori it uses it's own unique set of scaling, layout positions...etc.
had a blast of Mr.Do last night and found it was running too fast, changed frame delay from 1 to 2 and that fixed it!!
This frontend is still the best out there for a cab imo....

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration
There is a way, but you have to do it in the layout - it's not the frontends job. I'm going to work on it at some point when I get the motivation to.

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration
Gotcha...thanks for the info cools...for some reason I got it into my head that actually splitting the layout selector into 2 separate selections, 1 for hori and 1 for vert and then getting attract to call on each one separately might be poss.cools wrote:There is a way, but you have to do it in the layout - it's not the frontends job. Not needed though, love this frontend with your custom layouts...quick selections and still pretty!

Best joystick controlled breakout game I've played. And all of the artwork is drawn properly for 640x480 so it looks fantastic in 31k with no scanlines.

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration
Is that a JVS adapter there? Will the PC pick up on the inputs via that USB cable and just "work"? Or is there more to it than that? I've got a New Net City and a spare desktop, I'd love to do that if all you need is to plug the PC into the JVS adapter...cools wrote:

Good cheap (new) processor for MAME:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =CP-531-IN"
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu ... Hz&id=2267"
Easily the best value around at the moment.

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration
I was wondering why people go through the trouble of setting up windows/crt emudriver/groovymame if you can just download a bootable ArcadeOS that will do the same. I guess i'm missing something (havent used it yet), is there a reason ArcadeOS doesnt quite cut it?
