Re: skip mame 'warning' screens
Sorry, I call the boxes you type in textboxes (http://www.w3schools.com/aspnet/aspnet_textbox.asp"). That's the programmer in me talking.
My screen looks like the one you posted except I changed the mame source folder location.
I have a minGW folder created. What goes in that folder? There is a bunch of stuff in there now, I can't remember if that got created when I installed the program.
I downloaded the mame source 141. When I unzip it, there are a bunch of files and folders. Do these go in the minGW folder?
My patch files have the .diff extension.
When I apply patch, it runs through all the stuff really fast and everything says it is skipped.
And of course, when I click GO, nothing gets built, says it can't find mak file.
Thanks!

Yeah, it seems like you're missing the compile tools. Check out KMan's link there, it's probably a good one.

Re: skip mame 'warning' screens
I don't know what hoodoo you guys did, but it worked.
Until about 20 minutes into the compile.
Then the program bombed.
I reinstalled, reloaded, etc... Second time, it bombed again in about the same place.
No worries.
Just one more question. On the Hi score diff, do you choose the version you will ultimately end up with (141u2)? Or, do you choose the file for the version you are starting out with (141)?
Thanks again.

Re: skip mame 'warning' screens
the one you end up on.. First apply u-diffs, then apply coresponding Hi-patch.
11.) Click the "..." button to browse for the "Diff Patch File" and point it to
..\source code\updates\0126u1.diff
12.) Click the "Apply Patch" button.
13.) Repeat step 11.) and 12.) for 0126u2.diff, 0126u3.diff and 0126u4.diff
14.) Extract the MameUIFX source code over the Mame source code on ..\source code\Mame0126 then
rename "mameuifx.mak" to "mameui.mak".
15.) Click the "..." button to browse for the "HiScore Diff Patch File" and point it to
..\source code\patches\ hi_126u4.diff

Re: skip mame 'warning' screens
Yeah, did that. Strange how the compiler dies. I tried it on a 64 bit machine and it went fine. Of course, it compiled it for 64 bit and wouldn't run on my mame machine. I'm gonna set the options for athlon xp, but the updates go so slow if it isn't set for 64 bit!!!
Thanks again for your help.

Did you try just keep on clicking the "GO!" button as it stops? IIRC, the compiler will continue if you do.

BTW, I did manage to compile. I think it was a matter of having everything in the right folders.

Re: skip mame 'warning' screens
Yesterday, i've compiled the 0.143u3, nothing gone wrong, but... how to start the program? I mean, there's no starting icon showing up.
