games in FPGA

Post by invzim »

I am SO getting one of these, http://fpgaarcade.com/.

Hoping Aaron Giles or some of the other devs get into this. If they're not bored out of their minds with MAME by now - the prospect of clock-perfect "emulation" should hold some appeal.

Is it still the case that FPGA emulation isn't 100% reliable due to the FPGAs intermittently 'corrupting' themselves, or is that only with certain older FPGA ICs?

If that was the case, they would be pretty unusable in more critical applications. Most of the networking gear at work contains FPGA's, and haven't seen (or experienced) any problem reports related to what you describe.

Fair enough, thought I might be wrong but have vague memories of something along those lines. Perhaps it was one specific type of FPGA?

Damn, I get the impression the author is suffering from feature creep and perfection syndrome - get the thing out already...
