Stuttering with Cave system 3 games with MAME 143u8
I am asking to specialists regarding a problem with Cave system 3 games.
I have stuttering and small lag with the games of this system only, everything else works very fine. I am running windows 7 and I am equipped with a dual core 1.30ghz, 3go RAM.
If someone can help, I would really appreciate
Thanks,
NICO

Cave system 3? Do you mean SH-3?
If that's the case, you need a faster processor. There's no way that 1.3 GHz is going to cut it. I have a 2.65 GHz C2Q and that doesn't cut it either for all games.
But you won't get any of the programmed slowdown, so the games are generally unplayable anyway. Do yourself a favor and get the 360 versions. Or better yet, the actual PCBs.

Are you joking regarding your lag with your config ??? Ok from one point, I could understand that MAME would not as suitable for C2Q as for C2D but still ... you have a high clock speed!
Anyway, none of the systems are lagging with my config., just those from cavesh3 system. Even CPS3 is running perfectly (that's maybe not anymore a factor of performance in 2012, and I have not tried with 3D games yet though), the only other stuttering + lag I meet is with Mach Breakers, but this is more a matter of the emulation itself, than from a computer performance (correct me if I am wrong).
1) On some other games (for example Martial Masters) I encountered a similar problem regarding stuttering, but I just had to correct manually the audio latency into the settings, and it worked perfectly also. I also remember me doing it once equipped with an Atom build notebook, and I had to modify the audio latency for getting rid off the stuttering onto PGM based shooters. Every time I found a solution to the problem but I am now stacked with these cavesh3 games ... and I don't want to believe there is no solution to the problem haha.
2) When I boot the cavesh3 games, "sometimes" it freezes the whole system randomly, and sometimes no, I don't know from where does it come from ...
Subsidiary question: Does MAME runs better with a 64 bits system? I mean, the seller of my laptop sold it in formatting it with a 32bits OS, but originally, the system comes with a 64bits OS, so I will upgrade once I will receive my external DVD drive.

25% - 33% improvement depending on which MAME driver.
HTH

The YGW games have an odd background thread in-game loading system. It always lags heavily while loading (twice per level - once at the start, once at the midboss). Once the loading is done, it plays at normal speed. The IKD games have a different loading system.

Ok so I have upgraded to a 64 bits OS, and I can play my games. The sound is always problematic, especially with latest games, where too many silly sound of mini-skirted biatches moaning fill the whooooooooole game but I just have to cut the sound. At least I can plqy them, but of course, it's laggy.
Well also, I have many times some crashes from MAME when I load some cavesh3 games, completely randomly. Any idea?

Interesting. Is this applicable to Slow Poke Mame too?Korszca wrote:The YGW games have an odd background thread in-game loading system. Slowpoke MAME is what I used to test the cavesh3 games.

Ahh ok.Korszca wrote:Slowpoke MAME is what I used to test the cavesh3 games.
I was planning on giving Slowpoke Mame a try. Sounds like it probably isn't worth it then, given that the YGW games would be the ones I would wanna play.
