Re: Adding RGB to a TV

There's a really great thread on this on the Shmups forum:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=56155

Basically what's outlined in the first post will work in most cases.

Re: What type of sealant is used for securing screw-type buttons?

Why would you do this? If you ever want to remove the button (and eventually you will), it's a PITA to unscrew it. Like tomii, I have had to break the rings to remove the buttons. You can easily get it tight enough by twisting the actual button (grip the microswitch). Rotate to the opposite directio...

Re: MS2931 no picture after cap replacement

I'm sorry but those solder blobs look terrible. You can spot every single leg that you have soldered to. You will have lifted pads on these chassis even if you're super careful. The truth is some are already lifted before you even start. There's no way to undo that. In the event of a lifted pad, I u...

Re: Good 31khz VGA displays?

I was going to suggest a PC monitor, but yeah, you're not going to find any over 24".

There's the Sony PGM line of monitors which you can try to Google for.

The problem is all bigger 31khz monitors are pro monitors in the end and ergo somewhat elusive.

You sure the pot for the blue gain is working OK? Have you tried a different control board?

Re: Sega Astro Panel - LS-32

I have a few of those. Not sure if they're River Service or genuine licensed ones.

You should be able to install a LS-32 to that with a SE flat mounting plate.

Re: Messy magenetization and convergence

There's no way you'll break the neck as long as you push it towards the monitor. Make sure the clamp is loose! (it most likely is, since the yoke is moving) That reminds me to what I saw at this video at 11:30! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gmrrf5hiYQI So guess it could be the yoke!? Well, consider ...

Re: Messy magenetization and convergence

The yoke being loose won't affect the colors in that way.

It's not the chassis either.

Do you have an external degausser?

I'd probably try to do it with a helper battery instead of doing it while powered on.

Looks similar to JST's VH series:

Honestly, I wouldn't bother replacing the PSU. If you have the know how to do the cap kit, do it. Original Japanese spec PSUs are great quality, and better than most Chinese made crap these days.

Re: Raspberry Pi as SCSI interface for GD-Rom

Just buying a Net Dimm. To CF upgrade a regular DIMM board you to have remove a surface mounted chip, flash a new firmware on it, and then solder it back. Then you have to take the bottom board, swap in it to a Net Dimm, and netboot two more firmware upgrades. Final step is putting the bottom board ...

Get a multimeter and measure your voltages. There's three voltages going in, 3.3V, 5V and 12V.

Why not just change the connectors to the smaller ones?

Sanwa stopped making buttons with the larger connectors years ago, and I don't think Seimitsu ever even made them.
