Re: Montior Working!! more or less

Does anyone know how to make the image more curvy? Apparently the tube is more curved than the image, so the corners don´t show the entire image: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4402/36346570282_d09c1804c2.jpg That geometry is as good as it gets on that tube style. You can't round the picture in the...

Re: Discoloration keeps coming back daily at bottom right corner of the screen

Since the degaussing coil is not visible in the pic on page 1 it must be the type that goes around the faceplate, i.e. sits on the rimband. I would try and replace it with a type that sits on the funnel and see if the different coil arrangement has any effect on the corner. If not it means that the ...

Re: Help w/ Nanao MS8-26SG

I don't fault the seller in this case. I've gotten many kits from him, always with no problems. He said his kit was put together from a list put together by someone he enlisted to document their 26SG. I've notified him of the needed update to his kit, and I am confident he will make the update. The...

Re: Help w/ Nanao MS8-26SG

Yes, it's definitely 0.47uF/160V. People mistaken it for 47uF because they're not used to such a low capacitance for an electrilytic cap: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showpost.php?p=3448679&postcount=6 See also the schematics: cap.jpg I don't think it has to do with the power supply (the mor...

Re: Help w/ Nanao MS8-26SG

The HOT collector pulse is checked with an oscilloscope not with a multimeter. When working it's a waveform like this: coll.jpg But clearly it's not working. I would check if the H drive transformer is getting power (this comes from the B+ through R543A and R543B), if the H drive transistor is good ...

Re: Help w/ Nanao MS8-26SG

If you don't have heater voltage and 180v for video amps on the neckboard, the flyback isn't working. If the flyback were working the HOT would be working too and on the collector you would have over 1000v. Now you just have the B+ going through the primary side of the flyback to the HOT collector. ...

Re: Help w/ Nanao MS8-26SG

Weird, aren't cap kits supposed to fix all monitor problems? I've heard that on a forum that starts with K... So... was it working before the cap kit? 8-) You should connect a light bulb to the B+ line and see if it lights up and meter the voltage. You can remove the b+ fuse (F902) and connect the b...

Re: Cleaning a Monitor

There are parts that aren't sealed and once water gets in it takes a lot of time to get out and may leave an unwanted calcareous residue which may have bad effects later: 1) LOPT/Flyback. The front block with the screen/focus trimmers. The hole where the HV lead comes out from. 2) PTC 3) CRT socket ...

Re: NOS 18" CRT Tubes any use for a Cute?

Those are 19" tubes with a 18" viewable screen. Cute has a 18" tube with a 17" viewable screen.

They are VGA tubes for old PC monitors (double focus and yoke would make them incompatible anyway).

Re: Polo/2 28" B+

Some time ago I missed the chance to bid on a Polo/2 (15KHz) manual with a separate sheet listing b+ voltages and heater resistor values depending on the CRT type used. I have a picture of it and it's mostly readable (probable reason why I didn't bid :D ):

Re: Repairing MS8-29FSG

I think you should do a proper light bulb test.

Start with this:
MS8-29bulb1.jpg

and if the bulb lights up and B+ is the correct voltage try this (I've seen that you desoldered the b+ pin on the flyback so leave it like that):
MS8-29bulb2.jpg

Voltage regulator must be in and good.

Re: Repairing MS8-29FSG

Does it make sense that 6-7-9-10 all have continuity? Yes, they're different tappings of the same winding and 6 is ground (secondary). Pin 8 is the ABL pin and has no continuity with them. The MS8-29 schematics are not available but we can use those of the MS8-26 as a general reference: http://wiki...
