Re: Finally Nabbed a Candy - Wrong Aero Harness? and Other Quandries

Nice looking Aero, glad that you seem to have gotten most of your issues with it sorted out. My currently out-of-commission Neo Candy has the same one control panel key issue, I just leave one of the locks partially loosened (which was the condition I received it in). Yeah, not ideal, but I just hav...

Updated with my interest in a Salamander 2 board. Trying to complete my Gradius board set. Also want a Gradius IV at some point.

SonSon PCB question

I've had this SonSon PCB for a couple years at this point. It seems to play fine (I 1cc'd it once), but I've noticed a strange bug. On semi-rare occasion, a letter will spawn in the play area. You can't interact with the letter and it just scrolls to the left like any other game object. So... can an...

Salamander 2 (original, JP) and Zero Wing PCBs (original, any region)

Looking to buy a working Salamander 2 PCB.

Looking to buy a working/original Zero Wing (Toaplan) PCB.

I'm in the USA, but can pay international shipping, depending on price.

Thanks! :awe:

Re: Slight white glow from reds/whites/yellow on NEC XP-29+

I will open it up and give it a look. It didn't strike me as a convergence issue, it reminded me more of the slight glow that high-contrast images can have against blacks on CRTs, but this seemed a bir more intense than I'm used to (then again, I am probably used to worn-out arcade monitors, lower q...

Slight white glow from reds/whites/yellow on NEC XP-29+

I am running RGB on an NEC XP-29 Plus. The monitor seems barely used and is pretty close to perfect as far as color and sharpness go, save for reds whites and maybe yellow having a slight "glow" or glare to them when displayed on a dark screen, like a faint white cloud. I will try to get a...

Re: Boot or Original : Post original/bootleg PCB photos here

Damn, that sucks. I tend to avoid that guy's auctions (for one reason that I won't say since I am not entirely certain it was the same seller... but I am pretty sure) since he has a number of boards with that ugly Korean sticker thing plastered on it. Maybe I'm crazy, and I have nothing against Kore...

Re: Horizontal Pixel Line Spacing adjustable?

Maybe you'd be better off with a 19" or 25" monitor cab? Or get a newer 31kHz monitor and just run games that output at that resolution? Short of that, I really don't know if there is much you can do to make the picture in this cab to your liking.

Re: Horizontal Pixel Line Spacing adjustable?

The best advice is probably just to play it as it is for a few weeks. After that I would be surprised if pay attention to it or even notice it any more, lol.

Re: Purple haze on New Astro City

H.H: Horizontal Hold. If you plug in a game and the image looks torn and pulled to the sides horizontally (or the top part of the image seems stretched over to one side), you should try adjusting this. V.H: Vertical Hold. If the image appears to be rolling vertically, you should try adjusting this. ...

Nice job saving this one so far. The RS panel looks a lot better than that thing that was on there previously.

That is weird with the SC board... I actually have a similar problem with a different game though much less severe. No clue what causes it.

Vulgus PCB question (not repair related)

Does anybody have information about Vulgus's Japanese PCB release, or better yet a photo of the Japanese PCB? The ones I seem to see are SNK licensed boards, but from what I gather those are outside of Japan releases, correct?

Re: Bad image on Versus City monitor

What have you tried? The color issue could be fixed by adjusting the various color pots, and the top part, as mentioned previously, might be adjusted by tweaking the H.Hold pot (though that looks like pretty extreme distortion).

Re: VGA connection on MS 2930

2930 is not an autosyncing monitor, so you need to make sure that the dip switches are set to the correct resolution settings BEFORE hooking up your console and turning it on. And while I never put a console in mine, but when I had an MS2930, I do believe that was where I connected the VGA.
